Of course, as with any guidebook, it's not totally perfect, but compared to many others that we've seen while looking for plans that virtually anyone can implement, it does seem extremely well-designed and the feedback so far has been great.

Do we recommend you try it? Yes. Ignore the fact that the website looks a bit odd. We now have proof that this guidebook does deliver and love the fact that it contains enough comprehensive plans to appeal to both beginners and experts alike.

How to Hand Sand...

Would you like to apply a superior finish to your woodworking projects? You are not alone. Learning how to properly hand sand can really enhance your final product. Unfortunately, many of us all too often go about sanding the wrong way.

The first thing to remember is that is is perfectly fine to use more than one sandpaper grit. For projects with heavy scarring and blemishes, we recommend utilizing a coarse grit to sand up to a forty-five degree angle to the grain of the wood. This technique is effecting for lifting those blemishes, and the same grit can also be used to clean up the worst of the sandpaper scratches.

The best strategy is to actually utilize three varying grit counts to get the smoothest finish. We recommend starting with an 80 or 100 grit to get rid of blemishes in your project. Next, we recommend utilizing a 120 or 150 grit to take out any marks left during the beginning of the sanding process. Finally, a 220 grit should achieve that smooth, scratch-free finish that will make your project look great!

For truly exceptional results, we also recommend using a sand block because they provide a consistent working surface. Sand blocks also assist the woodworker maintaining consistent control and contact with the material being sanded. Although sand blocks can be purchased at most hardware or paint supply stores, we recommend that you make your own from scrap wood in your woodworking shop!

So have fun making your small wood projects the right way!

Wood Furniture Plans...

In this economy, forking out hundreds of dollars or more on furniture is simply not an option for most of us. So why not ignore the pricey, foreign furniture and enjoy the satisfaction of creating unique, low-cost and fun furniture yourself with these wood furniture plans?

End Table Designed from a Steering Wheel:

You may be surprised to learn that you can design a stylish, glass topped end table from an old car steering wheel. Just collect a steering wheel, a crankshaft and a flywheel from your local junkyard! An old steering wheel will probably run at around $15, and a crankshaft and flywheel will probably not cost much more. Once you pick these items up, clean the oil and grease from the crankshaft and flywheel, and get ready to weld. The flywheel makes a great base for the table, then attach the crankshaft in the middle, and top it off with the steering wheel. Then tp if off with a piece of glass and you have a car themed end table.

Coffee Table from Old Wood:

Woodworkers construct projects from wood all the time - We know where to find wood! Simply locate some old wood from an abandoned project and you should be good to go for this project. First, you'll need to cut four long pieces of wood at the same size to function as the sides of your table. Then, cut four short pieces for the base of the table. Start by connecting the base to the sides with glue and then use some anchors to hold the table together while the glue dries. Repeat this process on the remaining three sides. Afterwards, we recommend that you sand and stain to bring out the beauty hidden under the old wood.

Create a frame plywood sheet by attaching strips that you've cute from teh reclaimed wood. Be careful to leave about a 1/4 inch edge on side. After ther the glue dries, attach the frame sheet on each base using angle anchors. Cut 1/8 inch tiles from the reclaimed wood so that you can make sure the frame is completely covered. Glue these evenly across and let them dry. Next, pour epoxy on the wood tiles and wait for them to dry again. Find some old junkyard door pulls and attach them to the sides of the table, followed by placing non-slip discs on those door pulls.

We recommend that you then buy a piece of glass (for safety reasons) that you want to place onto your new coffee table. How's that for small wood projects?
